It’s not often that Jon and I get to do a “fancy” date night. We go on dates and adventures pretty often, but fancy is reserved for special occasions. We also don’t do birthday gifts, we do experiences. So this year, I decided I wanted a fancy date for my birthday and I figured I would share the details with y’all in case you’re looking for ideas for a fancy date night too!
We started off the night at the Ravenous Pig. We’ve been there before and it’s always amazing. I usually try something I’d never normally order because something about the place makes me feel adventurous. Their menu changes monthly, so there’s always something exciting and new, and they even personalize the menu if you tell them you’re coming for a special occasion!
I highly recommend the Ravenous Pig Old Fashioned. It’s stellar. You pretty much can’t go wrong with a cocktail that has bacon in it, right?
Pro Tip: You can book a reservation through their website and it’s really easy. Even if the time you want isn’t available (it’s not the biggest restaurant ever) you’ll see other open spots close to the time you requested.
After that, we drove over to Park Ave to go to the Wine Room. I had been there before for a KKG event and loved it, so I wanted to take Jon. He’s not big on wine, but that made it even better because half the fun is trying all of the different wines they have!
Your first time there you’ll get a card and a couple of wine glasses. Load your card with the amount you’d like to spend ($30 is a good starting point, but you can always go lower and add more!) and wander around the machines. They all have descriptions of each of the wines you’ll find there and the sections are divided by what type of wine they’re serving.
This would be a really fun place to go with a group of people because you’d probably not go through your wine as quickly as if it’s just you and your spouse.
Pro Tip: Keep your card for the next time you come (trust me, there will be a next time) because you can just reload it instead of buying a new card each time. Just make sure you keep tabs on your card… I can’t confirm or deny whether I lost it at one point in our evening…
What’s your favorite “fancy” date night? I’d love to hear about it in the comments so we can add some other great places to our to do list!
