Graham loves animals. He’s finally started to notice squirrels and birds while we walk (though it’s hard to miss the Sand Hill Cranes that roam the streets of our neighborhood!). I know soon enough he’ll be interested in exploring these animals and their homes more closely and there are some great places across Central Florida where you and your kiddos can do just that. I’ve compiled a list with some links below!
Uncle Donald’s Farm – just outside of Lady Lake
Green Meadows Farm – just outside of Kissimmee
Reptile Discovery Center – in Deland
Gatorland – in Orlando, near Hunter’s Creek
Central Florida Zoo – in Sanford
Brevard Zoo – in Melbourne
And if you’re less interested in the furry and slithery and more interested in the edible, I found a great directory of U-Pick farms in Central Florida that’s broken down by county and what’s in season!
Make sure you read this week’s Mom Explores Book Club book, The Day Jimmy’s Boa Ate the Wash, before you head out to one of these attractions. Your kids will definitely enjoy checking out some of the real animals that were in the story!
Know someone who lives in one of our other Mom Explores cities? Share these links with them so they can find great animal attractions in their hometown!
