One of the things we look forward to the most about each festival at Epcot is the scavenger hunt. They’ve changed the themes and locations of the hidden objects for each new festival and it’s a fun way to keep your kids entertained and involved while you eat and drink your way “around the world”! In this post I’ve got some tips and spoilers and I’ll keep it updated for each year’s Flower and Garden Festival so you know where to come for help while you hunt! Make sure you also check out this post with my tips on what food to try and how to get the most out of your visit to the Flower and Garden Festival. Make sure you also check out my post about places to escape the crowds (even during a festival!) at Epcot!
This year’s hunt is centered around Spike the Bee. I thought it was way harder than finding the Easter eggs from years past, but Jon found it easier.
Tips for Beginners
- Spike is always outside this year (in the past, objects have sometimes been hidden inside shops). He’s about the size of a stuffed animal.
- If you have more than one child, or just want more than one set of patches, make sure you get multiple maps. They’re only $5.99, so as Disney souvenirs go they’re really affordable!
- Look for the little signs that indicate which sticker to use on your map, sometimes they’re easier to see than Spike.
- If you have trouble even after you look at the spoilers below, ask a cast member! Most of them will help you out with at least a hint.
- The idea this year is that Spike is pollinating plants as he travels around the world gathering nectar, so the stickers that go on your card are drawings of the plants.
This is your last warning before you see the spoilers! If you don’t want to know where Spike is hiding, go ahead over to another page like How to Do Disney Like a Pro, Disney Day Essentials, a Date Night in the Tourist District, or my list of 100+ Adventures in Central Florida!
Ok! Assuming you’ve scrolled down because you want to know where Spike the Bee is hiding and not because you want to be angry at me for spoiling things (remember that warning from earlier?), here are the locations! I’ve included some pictures, but left a tiny bit of mystery on some for those of you who like a little more of a hint than a full-on spoiler. We’ll go counterclockwise around World Showcase as I tell you about these little guys.
Spike #1: Port of Entry Topiaries
This one is right outside the Port of Entry store where you can pick up a scavenger hunt map (there are plenty of other locations to buy one as well). It’s kind of hard to miss, just below a tall bush. This sticker is a rose.
Spike #2: Shakespeare Garden
Spike is pretty easy to find in this one. If you can locate Shakespeare’s bust (just outside the restrooms in the UK Pavilion), you’ll see Spike just off to the right. This sticker is honeysuckle.
Spike #3: English Tea Garden
This one was probably the most difficult to find because we were there when Alice was out doing a character greeting and our view of Spike was blocked by her line. He’s located in the flowers right by the main path through World Showcase and quite easy to spot once you know that. This sticker is chamomile.
Spike #4: Florida Fresh Garden
This Spike is hanging out in a potted orange tree, by the Florida Fresh Outdoor Kitchen. This sticker is an orange.
Spike #5 Urban Spice Garden
Slightly more hidden, Spike is flying in the flower bed just outside of the restrooms at the Morocco Pavilion (he’s very close to the Florida Fresh Spike!). The sticker for this one is a Chili Pepper.
Spike #6: Japan Promenade
This Spike is a little tough to spot because he’s by a bonsai tree in planter that’s surrounded by benches. It’s directly across from Japan’s Outdoor Kitchen. This sticker is a bonsai tree.
Spike #7: The Smokehouse Garden
If you can find Woody, you can find Spike. This sticker is the sunflower.
Spike #8: Garden Italiano
This Spike is hanging out by a tomato plant (which is also the symbol on the sticker for your map).
Spike #9: Italy Promenade
Spike is flying around potted flowers and an olive tree (which is the symbol on the sticker).
Spike #10: Outpost Savanna
This location is somewhat hidden. There’s a small area with tables and chairs near the African Outpost where Spike is hiding in the fountain grass (the symbol on the sticker).
Spike #11: Norway Troll Topiary
The name on the map pretty much tells you where this one is. He’s located low to the ground and the sticker for this one is the Delphinium.
Spike #12: Tropical Rainforest Garden
This is the only Spike that’s up high. He’s on the left side of a tree that’s covered in orchids (also the plant on the sticker for this location).
Don’t forget to take your map to the Port of Entry shop by May 28 for your prize! This year it’s a set of patches that you get to choose from a small selection (Mickey, Minnie, Figment, or a classic Flower and Garden logo with a strawberry and sunflower).
